We successfully delivered the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and ventilation (EMPV) services for the prestigious Park View residential development on Darwin Street, Birmingham. This £3.5 million project saw the creation of 116 high-quality apartments, complete with communal facilities such as bin stores, cycle storage, and secure parking.

The development was built using a steel frame and SFS framing system, finished with a brickwork façade for both strength and style. Working under a traditional contract, our team handled the full mechanical and electrical fit-out, including the installation of site-built apartment bathrooms.

Thanks to our expert project management and technical skills, we completed the EMPV package on time and within budget. The result? Modern, energy-efficient homes that meet all building regulations and sustainability standards.

Scope of Work

Electrical Services

  • Power & Lighting – Installation of LV distribution, internal lighting, emergency lighting, and general power systems.
  • Fire Safety & Security – Fire alarm installation, evacuation fire alarm systems, access control, security & CCTV.
  • Energy Efficiency & Compliance – Ensuring Part L compliance, surge protection, and lightning protection systems.
  • External Electrical Works – Building-mounted lighting, feature lighting, and EV charging points for sustainable transport solutions.

Mechanical Services

  • Water Supply & Drainage – Cold water storage and booster plant, domestic hot and cold-water distribution, and above-ground drainage with acoustic insulation.
  • Ventilation & Air Quality – Installation of MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) systems, bin store ventilation, and ductwork insulation to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Testing & Commissioning – Comprehensive pressure testing, chlorination, and final commissioning to ensure system performance and compliance.
  • Fire Protection – Installation of sprinklers, wet risers, and dry risers (in collaboration with a specialist fire protection contractor).

Challenges & Solutions

  • Coordination in a Multi-Discipline Environment – Given the integration of steel and SFS structures, our team worked closely with other contractors to optimize service routes and ensure seamless installation.
  • Sustainability & Energy Efficiency – The project required strict compliance with Part L regulations, which we achieved through high-efficiency ventilation, energy-saving lighting, and insulated pipework.
  • Urban Development Constraints – Operating in a dense urban area required meticulous planning to manage logistics, deliveries, and on-site coordination without disrupting surrounding communities.
